People often ask me what kind of notebooks I use when I journal and for me, there is only one real answer - Moleskines.
To me, journalling is all about sitting down on your own with your thoughts, something you think would be easy - you’re wrong. It takes a great deal of motivation to find a regular time to sit and write and I am insanely jealous of those people who appear to achieve it with ease.
Moleskines may be over-hyped and overpriced but they provide me with the incentive to actually sit down and scribble, especially when I don’t feel like it. Whether it is down to the smooth feel of their pages, the sophistication of their design or the fact that you feel you’d be wasting £13 otherwise - they’re my little motivational tool!
What do you guys use? I love discussing things like this!
p.s - no, I don’t work for Moleskine

Moleskines are amazing! My first journal was moleskine and I have used them ever since. I still say that they're worth every penny because they definately do give you the incentive to write.
hullo wayne! just checking out your blog after seeing a couple of your youtube videos. very nice on both accounts!
i've especially been enjoying your videos b/c i am going to study at oxford in the fall and, being a native californian, i think it's really cool and informative when you talk about what life is like in england. thanks and keep up the good work!
cheers,
teresa
p.s. i've been thinking about getting a moleskin, but i've always chickened out at the last minute. i keep wondering what i would write that would be worthy to jot down in a moleskin! haha
Hey Wayne, had always been catching up on ya blog. hmm, i know this is kinda "out of no where" but just one small little request. Know that you're studying journalism currently and there goes my area of interest too. Was just thinking, it would be really great if we can be "mail-pals". As in writing to each other via personal email. hmm, what do you think? Really hope to find someone to writing to and at the same time to improve my writing skills. Hope to hear from you soon. =D

What do Moleskines have that make them so expensive? I've never seen one before. Usally I just choose a journal with a cute cover, haha. I agree with you about making time to write-not so easy to do.
@Marc People are always shocked that I spend so much on them but if they can go out and spend a fortune on alcohol, why can't I buy notebooks? :p
@Teresa Heyyy!!! Great to have you reading. I'm checking out your blog too. Wow, Oxford? You certainly picked a nice part of England to study in. Oxford is only about 45 mins or so from where I live. I spent some time at the university on this programme that I was on so I know you'll have a great time. I know what you mean about thinking your writing isn't worthy for a moleskine so what I do, as soon as I get one is just scribble and jot things down on the first page so that it forces me to use it however I like ;)
@RaykiAlgiz Ohhhh I'll see what I can do ;) ha
@Angela To be fair, a notebook is a notebook but the Moleskine to notebooks is like what Macintosh is to personal computers or Gucci is to clothing. They're associated with the likes of Hemmingway and the aristocracy so they can afford to put a higher price tag on them. They are well designed though, I love how the pages lie flat and how sleek they look. I guess I just have some sort of Moleskine complex :p
Your handwriting is very neat! Argh, mine is so terrible that one time on an english exam the examiner wrote in capitals AWFUL HANDWRITING!
I find that I only have motivation to write (and write well) if I am writing in a graph paper notebook. I feel like I have more options than regular lined paper. Great entry, Wayne! :DDD
