Happy day of commercialism!

I loathe Valentine's day with every inch of my body.

It infuriates me that we, as people, need the excuse of a certain commercialized day in order to show our love for someone. Should that not be done every day of the year?

Seeing the dozens of men in Tesco at midnight last night hovering around the Valentine's day cards because they had obviously forgotten or left it to the last minute, proves just how little thought goes in to such a fake occasion anyway.

Oh and before anyone says, no I'm not jealous ha. Even when I have been in relationships, I have always hated the day equally ... maybe even slightly more. I don't like the idea of society dictating to me when I should be displaying my emotions just so that Clinton's cards can reap in the profit.

Yet if you are in a relationship, you ignore the day at your peril. I guess there is no easy way out so maybe I should just learn to live with it or find someone that shares my hate for it. Any takers? :)

It seems nothing says I love you more than a battered 99p card and some half dead carnations.

Valentines Day - Invented to boost slow card sales in February. haha

Haha I totally agree with you. It's a ridiculously commercialized "holiday" that has no relation as to what it was originally meant to be.

I agree with you 100%.

I worked today and yesterday, and I rang in so many bouquets of flowers. It's ridiculous the amount of money people spend on such a stupid day.

I always wonder, though: Why is it always the men that have to buy the gifts? Women expect jewelry, cards, flowers and chocolates and all they have to do is buy a card and give their man a good time. You don't see women scrambling to buy things at the last minute. Maybe guys just don't care for the holiday as much as women do. I don't know.

I told you I ramble. :P

the day after valentine's day all the heart-shaped chocolates are on sale, love it for that if not for anything else.
